Human rights court orders Peru to pay damages to mining town
The court ruled the state failed to comply with its duty to regulate and supervise La Oroya Metallurgical Complex, which was active for nearly a century.
Brazil’s mining sector’s revenue for the first half of 2023 grew 6% from a year earlier to reach 120 billion reais ($25.03 billion), according to data released on Wednesday by industry group Ibram.
The country’s mining exports in the first six months of the year reached 177.2 million metric tons, up 10.2% year-on-year, Ibram said.
