PANAJI: The state's lone government-run engineering institute, Goa College of Engineering (GEC) at Farmagudi, is planning to set up a new department of mining from the academic year 2011-12.
Sources said that the GEC has forwarded a proposal to begin a graduate course in mining engineering from the new academic year to the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) through the state directorate of technical education.
