The Hollywood Reporter is ramping up its industry-leading coverage of Awards Season.
Coinciding with the Nov. 3 relaunch of the 80-year-old brand, the Reporter is adding to its Awards Watch coverage across all platforms: in the new weekly magazine, via 12 stand-alone Awards Season special issues, and with an expanded online and iPad presence, including a new blog devoted
exclusively to awards season.
IN THE MAGAZINE
During the Awards Season, each issue of The Hollywood Reporter’s new oversized, glossy print magazine will include:
— The Race. A new column co-written by longtime industry vets Stephen Galloway and Gregg Kilday will chronicle the battle for Oscar gold from the inside. Galloway, executive editor features and events, has covered the Oscar race for 17 years at the Hollywood Reporter, creating the magazine’s esteemed Awards Roundtable Series. Kilday, film editor at the Reporter, has written and edited hundreds of stories about the awards race and the personalities who shape it.
Related Stories
“No publication covers the awards race with the depth and insight of the Hollywood Reporter,” Galloway said. “Our new column will be tough but fair and will take readers inside the races with a level of analysis and investigation that you simply won’t find elsewhere.”
— Awards Season Roundtables. THR’s exclusive Roundtable Series brings together the top contenders in six major categories, all together in one room candidly discussing their craft.
— Anatomy of a Contender. The most comprehensive look at the drama and excitement behind the making of the films dominating the awards conversation.
STAND-ALONE SPECIAL ISSUES
— Delivered together with the print magazine will be 12 stand-alone Awards Season special issues. These will take awards voters deep inside the races, introducing them to the major contenders with profiles, Q&As and first-person stories behind the films, as well as providing category-by-category breakdowns of the races and key dates to remember.

THR also is launching a daily Awards Watch blog coinciding with the magazine launch. Edited by Gregg Kilday with contributions from THR’s film experts around the globe, the blog will be a must-read hub for Awards Season news and analysis, updated every day until the final envelope is opened at the Kodak Theatre.
“Part of the fun of awards season is cutting through all the self-promotion, cheerleading and
conventional wisdom,” Kilday said. “It’s about figuring out what movies are really connecting with the various awards groups — so it’s part group psychology and part detective work.”
IPAD
The Hollywood Reporter’s awards coverage will also be available on its iPad edition, which launches Nov. 3.
